Do not let the thought of manually installing lots into
The Sims prevent you from expanding you game options. Simply follow the steps
below.
-
Make sure that The Sims is NOT Running!
This is critical to success.
-
Be certain that you have the required
expansion Packs listed at the top of each lot page for the lot you want
to install. If the lot also contained a file listing required downloads
be sure that you have downloaded and installed these files before you
install the lot. This is what prevents the "Some objects could not
be loaded" message and in some cases can prevent crashing. If you
are unsure of where to put the downloaded objects in your game please
read the Installing Downloaded Objects Guide.
-
Check that the lot will not overwrite
(and cause you to lose) a lot of your own in your neighborhood. To do
this compare the lot number in the file name either to the address of
your lots in the game or to the Neighborhood Maps
on this site.
-
Locate the appropriate UserData# the
(# symbol will be a number in your game corresponding to the neighborhood
number) folder for the neighborhood in which you wish to place the lot.
To find the UserData folder open your The Sims folder on your hard drive.
This location will vary from computer to computer, on a Windows machine
it is typically C:/Program Files/Maxis/The Sims. Open this folder. You
should see at least one UserData Folder (the number of folders depends
on the expansion packs installed).
-
Open this UserData Folder. Inside you
should see a folder called Houses. Simply place the unzipped lot file
you downloaded from this site into the Houses folder. You will be asked
if you want to overwrite the existing lot. Click Yes.
-
The next time you launch The Sims your
new lot should show up in the appropriate neighborhood.
